Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program
Medicare’s Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) is a proven lifestyle program to help you prevent type 2 diabetes. The program begins with 16 core sessions offered in a group setting over a 6-month period.
In the MDPP sessions, you'll get:
Training to make realistic, lasting lifestyle changes
Tips on getting more exercise with strategies for controlling your weight
A lifestyle coach, specifically trained to help keep you motivated
Group support with others experiencing similar things
Training for lasting lifestyle changes

Group support
Months: 0 - 6. For example if you started in January then core sessions would run from January - June of the same year.
Sessions: 16. These sessions occur during the six month core period.
Goals: Attendance in sessions during the six month core period.
Months: 7 - 12. For example if you started core sessions in January then these sessions would run from July - December of the same year.
Sessions: 6. These sessions occur during the six month maintenance period.
Goals: 5% weight loss and attendance in sessions during the six month maintenance period.
Months: 13 - 24. For example if you started core sessions in January then these sessions would run from January - December the following year.
Sessions: 12. These sessions occur during the twelve month ongoing period.
Goals: 9% weight loss and attendance in sessions during the six month ongoing period.
